Is this a rather successful attempt to undermine German "analness" with profound arguments?
Thanx for your very reasonable (and thus convincing) explanation. Now I am in doubt whether to stick with my "markful" forky fork or replace it for a better looking one...
I guess that is the same as with women at some point in life ;-)

I can't say I've never replaced a 70-71 fork. I wouldn't worry about the wear I see on yours. Look at the wear spots: fingers that contact the release bearing flats, depth of wear and symmetry. Spring contact area again for symmetry and depth. The povit contact area is hard to determin and I don't believe there is a spec. Gordon

This is the condition of the fingers:

Dunno how pristine the fingers of a brandnew fork would look like so no idea how much wear is on them. They look pretty symmetrical to me. I am still considering making the finger-tips a bit more "round" so the fingers will keep in tight contact with the bearing all the way while (dis-)enganging the clutch. This of course would cause kinda "additional wear". What do you think?

Thank you for your feed-back Gordon,
fork will be put back in as is. And bolt will be replaced as well. Thx, Frank.
A big shout-out to you guys! With all of your back-up (and some days distance) working on the car makes waaay more fun again.
    I do really appreciate!
    Cheers,
    Tom
