i assume on a car produced this late it was not only folded but also a small(1-1,5mm) plastic tube/rod was inserted to make the hole thing wider..so that they could bridge a bigger cowl-fender gap...si? no?.

here is an other early feature not mentioned so far...

no rubber seal but roofliner vinyl on the cap and black interior vinyl wraped around the q-panel edge

+2mm sheet metal used for the cap.

705 indeed used the headliner material. Want to make sure I use diamond rather than square when reinstalling.

Looks like it's time for an updated list. Again, BIG thanks to Jacques for putting it together.

    Thanks to all for contributions.

Same technique with the headliner was used on the 356's as such likely a carry over method

Has anyone else come across heater valves finished this way or is mine an anomaly?
    John,
Just ultrasonically cleaned a pair and guess what was under the red paint? Yellow zinc. Sounds like a step was missed on your car.

Like you say... if only the cars could talk.

here is what i found last week when comparing two glove box liners...one came off a 65 912 (top one) the other off a 64 but the one of the 64 could be a later spare...
also the glove box locking thingie is different 64+x is brown plastic(painted black) without the nose, somewhen in 65 changed to black plastic and somewhen later the part got this nose.
