Engine Sound Pad (~1970 and up)

In search for a correct 72 engine sound pad I bumped onto material to make a couple myself.
I used the current porsche supplied foam versions for the pattern. That was the only thing I had at hand to work from. The material I made them from is the jute with PVC like the ones used from around 70 and onward. I believe the outer material grain is pretty close to what was used in 72.
These are all hand cut, so don't expect a factory perfect stamped one. It took me about an hour each to mark and cut. Add material cost and shipping cost to the US and you know I'm not getting rich making them. I only have 5 to spare.

$165 shipped to the US. (Price adjusted due to higher shipping and material cost)

Looks pretty good. I assume you've seen the photos I posted of an original 1972 sound pad on another thread. The 72 sound pad was Gray and had a basket-weave pattern on it.

In your post you state that there was foam on the back. If that was the padding itself, I wonder if it was a 72 pad.

In this tread, a 70's was with Jute on the back:

I can say with virtual certainty that my pad is original. The reason for this is that my car has not been driven since 1986. Ive owned the car since 1993. I've had long discussions with the previous two owners, with the first having purchased the car in 1976. The foam backing on my pad is quite disintegrated. My sound pad is not like that one in the thread you mention. It has no thread in the pad whatsoever. Foam on the back with a vinyl like outer surface with a basketweave texture.

Not sure if it helps/ is relevant but the photo Gearby posted in link at post #5 looks similar to the pad on my 12/ 72 production 1973 model year car -- which is likley original. The foam backing disintegrates to a dust and it is sort of basket weave imprinted pattern

For reference, my car is a 1/72 production.
