    1969 Headlight and taillight harness?

My 1969 is missing the headlight harnesses and the tail light harnesses.

Is the 1969 the same for 70-73? Right and Left specific?

I have come across front headlight harnesses with Single filament and dual filament connectors. It appears USA legal are the dual filament connectors?

Are the plastic backings available? All the used ones i have seen are cracked and faded.

I would suggest Kroon for the harnesses, they break it down by years. Not aware of any replacement for the backing plates, you may have to find a nice set of complete lights or aftermarket (Chinese) lights and just use the backing plates from them.

    Mark..

anybody know why some are single filament bulbs and others are dual filament?
Would it be early or late difference? 65-68, 69-73?
    Or euro and USA?

Sierra Madre has harnesses and backing plates for the front:

    http://www.sierramadrecollection.com...73-p20179.html

They're for U.S. lights, could possibly be modified. Well made.

More information about LWB turn signals at my website:

Kroon for the rears, spendy but high quality.

    Cheers,

Actually, following an up-and-back discussion I had with SMC, they have now added a note to their website that these backing plates do not fit onto OEM Bosch turn signal buckets, and are specific to the repro buckets they are selling. It may be they could be modified to work, however. I have ordered one to see if that can be done.

That's odd. I have used them on several restorations of original housings.

The OEM backing plates are specifically left versus right, and have shapes keyed to the proper side. The SMC repros do not have left versus right, and they told me they fit in either orientation on their repro buckets but not on OEM buckets.

I recently wired a set of the SMC signal lamp plastic pieces into all new front lighting harnesses. I believe they were for their replacement housings.
I build all new original style front and tail light harnesses.

Here is a photo of the SMC units integrated into the all new front lighting harnesses I built for someone.

I cannot speak to the SMC backing plate repro, but I have now done the experiment and the ~20 year old repros sold by Zims Autotechnik work on either the right or left. Maybe they all do.
