Thank you.
The picture was certainly taken after Le Mans 1973, so after June 11th 1973.

Thanks for the great photos Thomas! As a former Scania employee in the States during the 1970s, I'd like to get some info on what must have been an uncomfortable situation for Saab-Scania. One part of the company (Saab) sponsoring their own manufactured rally cars while the other (Scania) sponsoring Porsche rally cars as the Swedish importer for VW-Porsche-Audi. Do you have any rally photos showing the Scania name on rally cars, or books you can point me to on the Scania-Porsche racing relationship? Thanks in advance for any help! Skal

Hallo John,
Should try to answer your question. Saab was not in Scania-Vabis in the 60's. Scania-Vabis companies were only importers of VW and Porsche since the late 40's. And had two rally drivers for Porsche 911, Björn Waldegård and Åke Andersson who started driving rally when 911 was approved as a rally car Jan / 1967. Have se 911 rally car with Scania-Vabis advertising, but has no picture. The car (Porsche) was owned by Scania-Vabis in Södertälje, where the factory and headquarters are still located. See also the photo of the registration document B 70046 which shows that Scania was the owner. And photo from Christophorus magazin from Porsche Nr 88/September 1967
That car is still available, but needs renovation.
Regards
Thomas

Many thanks Thomas for the Scania-Vabis-Porsche documentation. Correct, Saab and Scania did nor merge until September of 1969. I have many fond memories visiting the plant, especially the Scania museum, in Sodertalje. Hopefully they have a Porsche Rally car in that museum by now! Let me know if you ever come across a 911 Rally photo showing Scania-Vabis sponsorship. Thanks again!
