    My New Project Finally Arrived

A month or so ago I placed a WTB ad for a 1969 911T project. The only requirements were that it be rust free, matching numbers and priced fairly. Like I stated previously...I'd prefer a 911S, but my income dictates a 911T. I received three solid responses from the members here. Early S was the only place I posted this want ad. I landed on the middle priced project that Bill (911TES). His response was honest, forthright with no sugar coated BS. He was clear what he wanted for his project and it was rust free with its' original paint and matching numbers. And for an extra added bonus, it was Irish Green. He had the original books and the tool kit. The more we talked, the better the car got. Bill had the car for 6 years and had started the project, but couldn't find the time to complete it. Bill had bought the car from an owner who had owned the car since 1980. I'm not sure of any previous history prior to 1980, but this was a good start to a super car...

Bill and I easily came upon an agreement on the price. This was the easiest long distance purchases I have ever made. Bill was calm and precise...I never felt uneasy with him. I never flew there to inspect the car, nor did I have anyone inspect the car for me. We had a very high comfort level with each other. What most worried me, is getting a seller who is pushing his over priced POS onto you. You know, the guy who has that stench of desperation because he knows his car is a POS. The next challenge was having the car transported from Oregon to L.A. It doesn't sound like much of a challenge, but the car was on a dolly with a boat load of parts. I again placed a want ad on Early S for someone who might be able to refer me to a transporter who could handle this. Again I received two solid referrals. One of the referrals was to a gentleman named Shawn. Shawn was great. He promised safe delivery of my car and all of its' parts. He gave me a great price if I wasn't in a hurry. That way he could line up a back load up to the Oregon area, lowering his cost as well as my cost. He's not a big company. He is an independent, making him more flexible.

The car arrived this evening. Shawn was great and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. The car was everything that Bill said it was...A class guy. This all happened thru Early S members, who were all outstanding individuals with integrity. This really couldn't have turned out any better.

That is one nice wood dolly! Project looks good too. I'm glad Shawn was able to help, he has been very reliable for me in the past. Enjoy the project!

Congratulations on a nice project! It looks like we're neighbors in Woodland Hills. I have a silver '66 912 (originally Irish Green) that is a driver but with many projects planned. I look forward to seeing how yours comes along.

    Cheers,
    Jim
