    Powder coated, huh?

Are you SURE it was completely sealed up when they sand blasted it? The absence of a taped-off sender flange would cause concern for me. Was that left open during the process? If so, this tank is the tool of a car terrorist.

I will never forget about 25 years ago when we saw a '73 S motor literally self destruct in less than 1000 miles because there was residual amounts of abrasive left in the tank. A very expensive lesson.

Hi Frank - I hand stripped this myself with paint stripper and elbow grease - not abrasives whatsoever.

Over the years I have used many powder coating companies and all of them sand blast the parts before they're painted.

My powder painter does not prep parts, their main business is decorative rails , gates etc. Car parts are a small sideline for them.
I taped all of the openings and used a silicone plug for the oil tank sender hole at their facility.
All they did was hang it on the line, apply the powder and bake it. I am as demanding as you about quality work.
