    '68 serial numbers

    I was looking at the "for sale" section and read through the thread with the burgundy 911L coupe. The last four digits of that car's SN are 5328. That gave me the notion that the last four digits might be sequential across all '68 911 model ranges (what about 912's?). Is this correct? Surely there couldn't be over 5300 US spec 911L coupes produced in 68? Of course I've always known the '68 numbers were sort of an aberration, but never thought about this wrinkle before. I ask because my own '68L is 11860074. So does that make it the 74th '68 Porsche, the 74th '68 911, or the 74th '68L ROW Targa? Just curious.

    Wow, that is bizarre. Made my head hurt looking at the chart! But it did settle the question quickly for me.

    I've got a rhd row 911l.

    depending upon who you talk to it is one of either 3 or 8 imported to Australia. Porsche numbers are a little hard to pin down for 1968 in Australia.

    interestingly I heard of another l that might be surfacing in Sydney soon, apparently an Aussie delivery.
