    Hawaii Holiday

    Hi All

I'm thinking about surprising my wife and 6 year old with a holiday... Hawaii is about 10 hours flight time from Australia and about the limit of of the boy's flight endurance (otherwise we'd head to the USA mainland).

Looking for advice about the right place to stay given the 'family' nature of the trip (romance ended about 6yrs ago ). We've never been there and don't know which Island would be a good fit. I intend to travel during the Aussie school holidays during early April 2015 for about a 8 day stay. Budget is not unlimited, but I don't want a cheap hovel either.

    I appreciate any advice offered!

    Cheers

John - all the Hawaiian Islands have different vibes - so think carefully about what you want to do - non-stop business of a resort to wear your sun out? Or a little more relaxed family time? We've been to Maui (Kihei) a couple of times with our family (it's about an 8 hour flight from our home in Canada - so similar to you, that's as far as the kids can really stand it). The weather when we were in Maui was awesome - +23 to +26 during the day, and +17 or so at night. Fantastic.

If it were me, I would go with Maui.
I love the islands, have enjoyed them all multiple times, Maui has an overall great list of things to do.
For a family, get a small unit at Ho'Olei at Wailea. You get access to the Grand Wailea, great kid activities, incredible beach, your own place just across the street. Best of all worlds.
