Thread: what does this plate next to the VIN signify?

    what does this plate next to the VIN signify?

    from Dave's 72 St on Ebay there is a small plate attached with a sheet metal bolt near the bulkheads VIN
    I have seen this at least once before, would be good to know what was this for and who added those.

    The COA shows US delivery. I'd not be surprised if it matched the production number, but it does seem the body type digit is missing. It would be nice to follow up on this car.

    I think it has something to do with Dealer installed air conditioning.

    That is the case on my car. There are a total of 5 tabs like this to hold down a vacuum-formed plastic housing over the a/c component.
