Favorite leather care for dash and door top covers?

The dash and door top covers on our one family 1967 Porsche 911 (normal) appear to have the original leather material. The Zymol leather cleaner and conditioner products that we have tried appear to "gas off" over time leaving an oily film on the windshield interior. Is this unavoidable? Or is there a high quality non-gassing leather cleaner and conditioner we should use that still protects the leather?

On a related note, is there anything special we should do when cleaning the dash near the loudspeaker holes? This might sound silly, but do we need to do anything special to keep cleaner/conditioner from going through the holes and landing on the loudspeaker other than use in moderation? (Incredibly the original radio and loudspeaker still work.)

    Thanks,

    Jim

Since those areas are fairly rigid, have you tried saddle soap or glycerin soap. You can buy these at a tack shop. (horse supplies). Thats all we ever used on saddles.
