Hello,
I am looking for an original Porsche supplied ducktail rear spoiler with either steel or aluminum frame. The condition of the frame is not important it can be damaged, rusty corroded repaired it doesn't matter.
Can you help ?

If you dont find one, how about this one? http://www.aasesales.com/products/f4e-a73-1300t-104147
Thanks for that. I certainly looks from the photos as if they have made an accurate replica for most 1973 RS cars. Does anyone have any experience of these that can confirm if their claims are justified.
For example do Aase make their own frames and is the material they use the same as the very thin alloy that the factory used ?
They state they are suitable for later G series and of course they will fit these cars but strictly G series cars were never supplied with alloy framed ducktails.
It has been stated that some late RS chassis numbered cars were fitted with steel framed ducktails presumably because of the lack of alloy framed lids at the time but does anyone have any evidence of known original RS cars that did ?
I have seen at least one late chassis numbered RS car with a frame in alloy that has a reinforcing bump that corresponds to the same on the rear panel on the left of the lid near the bump stop. It could be that this ducktail had been repaired using a lower part of a steel frame. I have seen this before too.
Does anyone have any knowledge of any cars with alloy framed ducktails having this bump ?
The steel framed 74 ducktails all seem to have this bump.
What was this intended for but never utilised ? One suggestion is this was for an automatic light switch.
What do you think ?

Here are some of both, maybe not all original.

Yes I agree it is very nice and it is remarkable the quality that is being achieved now.
I am looking for an original fibreglass lid just so I can obtain the lid itself. I have the frame in perfect original condition in alloy so I will be removing whatever steel or alloy frame to obtain what I need. Most alloy frames are corroded and because the material was so thin almost impossible to repair. Accident damage, rust etc. afflicts the steel versions.
The reproductions are just too good and there are flaws in the production of an original ducktail that most people that copy it correct.
In other words replica ducktails are just too good.
