Holes for gauges - SWB vs. LWB

Is the diameter of the holes for the gauges in a 67 the same as a 69 (and up)?

Looking at clock delete plugs and they all seem to specify 69-89.

The holes didn't change until the 70 ym cars. 67 and 69 are the same.

    Thanks Jim

So does this mean that the plastic clock delete plugs that various sellers offer will fit a 67?

Beats me. The application described is confusing. 70 ym cars were made starting in 69 do I suppose the answer is no. I'm just guessing. Though.

SWB gauges mount using screw posts and LWB with the rubber gasket... So maybe the plugs only work with the rubber gasket?

Model years '65-'69 require brackets and thumb screws. MY '70 on take just gaskets......so it's NOT about SWB/LWB....another unique point on LWB MY '69 cars!

Did the size of the hole change or just the method of mounting? I have a later year speedometer mounted in a '69 with the rubber gasket instead of the mounting brackets and it seems to fit just fine.

Both. The size of the holes was increased by about 5mm, but more important. The flange in the hole increased substantially to support the rubber gasket on the later gauges. I have pictures of the flange on a later car (it is the same as 70 - 73, though) the other picture is of a 356 but is is the same as a early 911.

Thanks Guys - this also explains why the clock delete plug in my 69E doesn't fit too well.
