    1980 911 SC gas tank into a 1968 Normale.........has anyone done this swap?

    If so, anything to watch out for fit wise, connection wise, cause any changes for the spare, gauge issues from 1968 compatible? And what is the best source for buying a new one of those? Pelican? Do they make more than one kind? Size? I would still like to fit the spare and have it look as stock as possible. Thanks in advance for any advice. I was told this is good to do because of the CIS system. The 1980 tank has some baffles in it to keep a constant flow of fuel to the motor? Swirl? Does that sound about right?

    Nobody? OK, has anyone heard of anyone that has replaced a later model tank?

    It has been done 1000s of times. You will need to make up fuel lines and plug the return line in the SC tank. The best reason for doing it is to get a newer (less rusty) tank and increase your fuel capacity by about 5 gallons. You will need to use the inflatable spare from the SC tank. There simply isn't enough room for a full sized spare in the SC tank, in fact, reducing the size of the spare tire well is the way the extra capacity was gained. I am not at liberty to advise you where to purchase a tank, though. Maybe someone else can chime in.

    Jim just about covered all points. The biggest plus is the extra fuel capacity. Down fall is it puts ya out of sync on fuel stops with when running with other Long Hoods. You might give a call to EASY they might have what Ur looking for .

    One more benefit to the later tank is the "shelf" behind the spare tire...if you happen to be thinking about a centerfill. On the earlier tank, because the spare is full size, the shelf is narrow. On the later tanks that use the compressed space saver spare, the shelf is wider and accommodates a large wide filler neck, for a through the hood fill...just say'in. Like everyone has said...simple mods to fit it. If it is late enough you also get the benefit of the baffling on the inside that reduces fuel line starvation in hard cornering.

    If you don't ask Jim (EASY) if he has a tank available to purchase you are missing getting a tank from the best...and at a very reasonable price.
