MFI pump or crank case ...?

Hi I'm new to this forum let me introduce my self my name is Ben Coles I make parts that are not available or are and don't look accurate enough to be classed as original I have just about done all the parts that I think is possible with my skills and contacts ... So to end on I'm thinking either a crank case or an mfi pump ( not bodging an old one to look like new ) a totally new product so your not reliant on old core parts either one is a huge investment but it's a bit of fun and it is just a hobby to me So what would be more sought after as I have to sell something to cover my costs ? It's a 6 month project either way.
Oh I'm not trying to get orders before I make anything incase either don't work!
    Thanks
    Ben

I'd say crankcase unless you are talking about making the whole MFI pump, space cam and all. If you could find a way to translate air/fuel ratio into a custom space cam you would have a lot of orders.

Yea the whole thing 'space cam' n all. Why not someone made it once before didn't they ? I'd initially copy a rsr or whatever prove it works then the maths and dyno take over to tune to each application I hope

    Racing MFI Pump....pleeease!

About time you found your way on here......it'll save me doing all your promotional work!

You know how I feel...the only item lacking on my 2.5 short stroke is a proper MFI racing pump, would love to have one!

For those that don't know Ben his work is to the very highest standard. I've been documenting the progress of his reproduction small fan housing and early Magneti Marelli twinspark distibutor production here.... http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...-Housing/page2 ...and unlike many people he actually manufactures all his own products, I've been to his workshop, he is the real deal.....the only reason he started the fan housing production is that he didn't like the aluminium one I'd purchased elsewhere!

My favourite. Ben's high butterflies are real works of art.... http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...t-Racer/page15

Big vote for a racing MFI pump from me!

I would recommend you build ST and RSR space cams for both the early and late Bosch MFI pumps. I have been amazed that no one has offered these space cams using original cams from factory race pumps. For the STs, the cams would need to fit 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4 pumps. The RSR cams would work for most 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, and 3.5L engines with various high lift engine cams. All we have today are the stock T, E, S cams including the RS, so ST and RSR space cams would be very useful for the Porsche world-wide community.

There seems to be plenty of pump housings, and they can be rebuilt for reasonable sums with readily available parts, so not sure how big the market would be for a complete duplicate pump.

    Gib,

Do you not think that the racing pump, with different housing, own oil supply, special cams etc would have a market?…….seems to be what a lot of people crave for, copy and try to replicate when building ST's, RSR's etc.

A choice of cams would have to be a good thing.

    Darren:

I think the market for the items you mention will be smaller. Maybe the front cover to match the ST/RSR pumps would be desirable, but not much more IMO. The rear braces are already available for those who want them. I really feel the biggest demand will be for a space cam that will work with big cam motors so that the tuning process can be done to match the A/F needed to take advantage of the high compression pistons and high lift cams guys want to use with them.

There is a company in Germany doing the space cams already. It is also rumored that the factory will soon be producing crankcases like ferrari. Maybe you can do the production for them.

I might be wrong but the Ferrari 250 blocks and heads are made in Birmingham as I have a new in machined V 12 crankcase in the kitchen
