    Porsche Classic Approved Tire Table

The most recent Classic Porsche magazine mentioned that Porsche Classic was testing tires for older models and publishing the results on the Porsche Classic website so I decided to check it out. I was surprised with what I found. If I'm reading the table correctly when running 7x15 on the rears they suggest 215/60/R15 tires. I run 205/55 on my '73 and I don't think I can get 215 tires to fit without a fair amount of adjustment. Is anyone running 215's?

    The table is here.

I think they refer only to the cars that were using the 7x15 on the rear originally, like the Carrera RS.
I run the 215/60s on the rear on my 74 carrera Mfi with no problem.

I have run 215 X 60 X 15 tires on the rear of my 71 911T for over 20 years. They went on the car at the same time as the RS flares. There is no way in the world that a 215 X 60 x !5 tire will fit on the rear of a narrow bodied 911 with 7 inch wheels.

    Regards

a 205 60 r15 will only fit with max negative camber. Anything bigger will rub with standard fenders.

In my opinion, anything smaller then a 60 (lower profile) effects the gear ratio too much making it hard on the car to be driven on the highway (4000 + RPMs) to keep up with traffic.

for a track set up, low profile tires on the 15 inch rims puts the car VERY low to the ground and helps it handle great.

Thanks for the feedback. I was so focused on the rim and tire size that I forgot about the flares on the RS.
