Hi,
rebuilding a 1973 911E engine, and was thinking of painting the fan shroud as it is very poor color now.
Anyone that has the original color code for the green fan shroud?

Neat and helpful post.
Keep in mind the fiberglass shrouds used 'colorized' resin (gelcoat) to produce the colors, not paint.
(I believe '73.5 T w/ CIS injection may have been black painted over yellow shroud.)

Yes, true they used gelcoat, and it also looks like it was mixed in the resin as you say
Have tried to rub to get a great result, but not happy with the result. I did rub a red shroud once with great result. This green look it has too much ware
Early CIS T was painted black over yellow, but later CIS T was black pigment thru and thru. Also 73 only has a soft shape to oil cooler duct. Late in 73 the shape changed to be more sharp and recessed, in anticipation of up coming Alu CIS intake runners that would interfere with original soft shape. Gled
The first two shrouds in the foreground are the 73 only with the soft shape to the oil cooler duct. The third shroud has the late 73, 74--> more angular shape. Gled
Thanks Gordon, I never caught that difference......
Here's my April '73 build with the more angular shape consistent with your post......![]()

I would use a polish/compound that is formulated for fiberglass and gel-coat. If you have a marina nearby, they would be knowledgeable. You could even take the shroud over and have them take a look. They could at least recommend a product that works well.

Chuck, is that the original shroud for your car? Sepia has the late shroud also, # 13xx, June production I think. April is pretty early for that change over. I wonder what the earliest car in 73 is to have the late shroud? Gled
Yep......... As far as I know.Chuck, is that the original shroud for your car?
