Yes, I know its somewhat incorrect, but because I'm building it for me, I'm interested in upgrading my 1967 911S fixed seat belts to the later inertia reel system. Has anyone ever done this, and knows what is required?

I just did this 2 days ago to a 1970 coupe.
Very happy with the results.
They went in the stock mounts & could always be returned to stock.
My Wife and I feel so much safer with the new belts, rather than the 45 year old stock ones.
We both always hated the stock belts they were hassle to adjust & use.
Happy Wife Happy Life.
I got them from Proffessionally Engineered Products

Are they "original" looking? Do you have any pictures? My first instinct was to buy them from the first model year the inertial reel units were offered. I know Repa makes a nice copy too.
The belts are solid black & the receivers look like later models.
Go to his web site he has pictures.

Ben, the first problem you'll need to overcome is the lack of a mounting point on the 'B' pillar, as is used on the retractor style.

My wife and I are likewise thinking about updating the lap belts on our 1967 911 for safety reasons. But we were exploring 3 point belts (retracting or fixed).
The following photos show what appear to be seat belt anchor points. Is that correct?
If so, how can they best be utilized to improve safety?
Thanks
Jim
PS: Sorry for the sideways photos; I couldn't figure out how to rotate them on the website.

Yes, that is a shoulder belt fixing point, but it doesn't work with the later retractor belts. But you can use that fixing point for a shoulder belt attachment. I have done that on my 67 S and had custom belts made by Vintage belts up in Canada, they are good people to work with. One other point is that the factory attachment point in our early cars is only sized for a 8mm bolt! However I found that there was enough material to drill and tap the attachment for the standard SAE 7/16th" bolt.

Is it a problem that can't be surmounted? Couldn't I weld on a point, especially since my car is in restoration? It could easily be returned to stock if need be.
