Rebel Racing makes some 2 piece mounts that are simple to install. I'm not a fan of solid mounts on a street car.

    WEVO does a complete rebuild.

+1 for Wevo, add their rear engine mounts as well and you will be very happy!!
there is some debate on using the origional blue pillows or the slightly more compliant balck ones. black may be a bit less noise / vibration transfer.
I have the blue in the 71 Targa and using black in the 66 912 coupe due to less engine weight.

    Send it to Wevo

    Regards

Al Zimm in Texas also does a rebuild. A friend of mine used Al and he is happy with the results. I went the WEVO route and replaced all 4 mounts with the black pillows and am thrilled with the results.

Anyone know whether the Rebel Racing mounts end up giving an original level of NVH? The Rebel Racing site says "OEM hardness," but since it's a different design I imagine the end result may be different than OEM.

    Hi Steve,

What do you mean by weird harmonics? Did the stock rear mount and WEVO front set transmit noise? Did the noise go away when all four mounts matched to WEVO?

Did you shifting improve when you matched the full set?

    Thanks,

What does Al stick in there ? A home made bushing ? That could be interesting....
I tried the 2 piece ones (I believe wevo, softer ones) and there was a *significant* difference in NVH between those and the original (but shot) inserts. I used that tranny brace on a 912 (it provides a more solid shift than the late 912's rube goldberg contraption). With the wevo 2 piece inserts, the cabin was vibrating like an out of balanced washer on spin cycle... which I should have seen coming because the 2 piece bushings were much harder than the original bushings I burned out of the mount.

Could be all that doesn't matter on the 911 because the flat 6 is smoother, but AFAIK there is no replacement for the original factory soft(er) rubber inserts. I'll call Zimm's... wonder what he sticks in there...
    Greg.
