The times, they are a changin'

It amazing what starts hitting the doors, still getting lots of 356's, but people are freaking out over 911's. These pics were 2012 and today, a new crop!

911S is just far superior sports car for USA today. 356 is just cute and slow.

Cute and slow? I came back from Rennsport on a mission to buy a 356. Slower for sure, but the 356 cars on the track were awesome to watch. I want one bad.

I have two cars in my home garage, two German extremes. The 356 is fun for cruising, is very peppy, and great in the curves, but fast it isn't. When I crave speed I get in the AMG Benz and scare myself silly.

You can scare youself quite well in a 356 and at speeds that will not bring on speeding tickets. I remember passing a Mercedes on a twisty road at about 60 in my 52 coupe (pretty sure it was Tippy Lipes car he used to win at Bridgehampton that year) with the tail end hanging out, the Benz could not keep up. The 356C got the same skid pad figures as the 76 Turbo if I remember correctly. What gets me scared now is drivimg my Mercedes Sprinter fast.

If I just wanted to scare myself at 60 mph I'd buy a Sprite for $10K and have $100K left in the bank.

That's very similar to the arguement guys give me when they see me in a 356, and they say,
"Why spend all the money, just buy a bug!"

My answer is always the same, you just don't get it. Driving a 356, the roots of Porsche, is an experience that can't be duplicated, especially by a British car of the same era.
