    Correct finish for my 1971 911 S latches

    Hi Guys !! Thanks for help with my car !! I was just wondering who might I send my latches for correct finish. It appears that these have a silver finish under all that grime !! Name:  DSC_4740.jpg

    They should be clear zinc plated, (silver zinc finish). The best option is to disassemble the pieces completely so the individual parts can be cleaned well. If they don't have any rust spots, they don't need to be bead blasted. I don't know anyone offering this as a service, I have done a bunch in the past, but it only makes sense to do them in batches as the platers have a minimum charge.

    You MUST remove the lower spring seats from the upper latches, they are pot metal and will dissolve!

    Send them to king of trim It will be a couple hundred dollars, they will take it apart and put it back together properly.

    From my research when I re did mine main base/bracket "clear" zinc ( silver ) with gold hardware and plunger spring.

    Ask Eric at http://www.pmbperformance.com/catalog.html. He did all my sway bar hardware for 1/4 of that. He does batches with brake pad hardware and calipers

    I've had all my zinc (or cadmium, which they will do) plating done at Van Nuys Plating.

    Good thought, but that is probably yellow zinc, clear zinc would be it's own batch and would be expensive for just those few parts.

    Thanks guys for all your advice !! I decided to send to King of Trim as I am having them do the door frames and quarter window frames. I am keeping my fingers crossed !! George K
