i speak with the seller. He has offers for buy it direct with 6k. And thats not enough for him....
very interesting offer. i thought the "L" designation was for US, only, due to the failure of the "S" model to meet US EPA regulations for the 1968 model year. would not have guessed that "L" would apply to '67 engine, unless it was simply manufactured in late '67 for the '68 US model.
i always learn new things. thank you.
This all is a bit confusing: According to many sources this engine is a normal base engine with 130hp being built sometime 1967 (engine type changed from 901/05 to 901/06 in November 1966). Don’t really know what are the differences between 901/06 (L-model outside US) and 901/14 (L-model for US market), hp and torque are the same, 130hp and 175nm. Anyway this appears to be a 911 base engine with Weber IDAs for 1967, instead of an L-engine.
If he has an offer of 6k and that's not enough, I'm just starting to wonder what's the current price level for 901/01 Solex-cases???

Little known fact --for 1968, the 911 Normal in Europe became the 911L. So for Europe, you had the 911T, the 911L, and the 911S for 68. In the USA, you had the 911 Normal and the 911L. 901/06 normal engine Europe only. 901/14 911L with smog US. 901/17 US smog with Sporto. 901/07 Europe only without Smog and with Sporto. Regards Chris

This normal based engine, I have spare 901/06 alu case but its for model year 68' (starts 118...), casting year 67'. I would take less than 6ke for it.
I have had also 901/06 mag case so both types around.

a nice "thank you" to raspy2point2 for the additional education. i had no idea about the use of the "L" designation in Europe, but is does provide the seller some credibility.
sold for $7.700
