    Wurth SKS Stone Guard Tinting

I'll assume that everyone knows that "Grey" or "Gray" is NLA. In a discussion I had with my Wurth representative he said that some shops have "tinted" the "black" product with water based white paint and have apparently been able to come up with a solution to "gray color" we're all trying to duplicate.

    Has anyone tried this?

I did try this but must have not been happy with the results as I decided to use UPOL GRAVITEX...a very similar heavy-texured product that is readily available in gray. In my case, I just needed to do some touch up to blend into the original undercoating, so not sure how it works on an overall respray if an absolute match to the VERY heavy textured product is your goal. Experimenting with the undercoating gun setting, inlet air pressure, and gun-to-panel distance should get you very, very close to original.

The Upol works good. My Wurth rep said we might be able to get the grey again so I ordered a case. We'll see.

We ended up ordering several cases from across the pond

The "Spray Bomb" won't cut it. Nice finish for rockers but not nearly the texture necessary. Scratch that one.

Another UPOL Gravitex fan here. My supplier does it in white, black or grey - obviously with this range you can tint it exactly.

That gun is for seam sealer, not undercoat and stone guard.

And be sure to get the special expensive Wuerth gun that allows you to control air pressure, pot pressure, material volume, spray pattern, vertical hold, treble, bass and the point spread of the NCAA finals. Just one more piece of specialized, expensive equipment that you will never use again after the job is complete, far too dear to let anybody borrow lest it never return, so it will hang on the shop wall, a relic of the happy time when a Man could still spray droplets of rubberized goo on the underside of his car, his fuel tank, his nose hairs, his new corduroy trousers, with reckless abandon.

LOL! My 20+ year old gun is hanging in my buddy's body shop where it will stay. I think the standard gun used to sell for Chic-fil-A "5 Tenders" money.
