Seat IDdeas is it a Recaro a cobra a ?

Picked up a set of seats - ebay - no one bid, I offered some money . Thanks seller. Also seller wasn't really clear on the description. Possibly a metal framed fixed bucket.

Did a 6 hour round trip, picked them up and put them in the shed. The other day I partially stripped one revealing older foam, bit of new foam and a very thin metal pressed shell. No identifiers though, as who the manufacturer was.

Side detail is like some recaros I have seen, with a cut out and are filled with a backed vynil.

Some locals aside for showing initial disgust in my aesthetics, haven't really ventured an opinion.

Not fussed really what they are, cause I'm liking them and will form the basis for some upholstery learnin

    Any thoughts?

    Recovered Recaro RalleyII

As new, the metal frame would have been exposed.

    Yes, that's a rallye II.
Funny scrolling down the pics. First thought was looks like a Rallye II that has been completely covered.
    And yes it is.
If the backrest wasn't welded in position, it would be intersting as being a passenger side seat opposed to the more common drivers side.
    Cheers

Thx gents - had my suspicions

The one pictured, is one of a pair. I'll strip them completely next week and see what cond they're in. Uli do you think the welding to make it fixed, is by Recaro or done by someone like you or me?

What was the original finish on the back? Crackle black? Satin ?

Anyone have some spare parts for these seats?

The welding is a DIY as these had adjustable backs. The finish on the metal was I believe a type of "crackle" similar to the finish on the black recliner mechanisms on the Porsche sportseats and the 72-73 comfort seats. This is actually accomplished with a sprayed material over primer first and then black paint over that. It's different than the crackle paint that contracts as it dries, producing the finish.

It depends a bit on the date. The earlier had more the finish of the recliners. The later ones had a flat black finish nearly without structure.
I had several with relatively smooth paint surface, one was an immaculate pair where the inkstamp Jan 1977 was still readable on the foam they had the smooth surface.

    Thanks for the additional info,

Anyone have any spare parts as I want to reinstate the tilt mechanism on these.

    Cheers Michel
