    Emblem identification

    Hi there,

I recently came across a couple of interesting emblems......The guy who sold them to me , got them out of a ' storage ' which was full of car and motorcycle stuff from the 60s.
At least thats what he told me.....

    Here are the details:

    1) size almost the same as normal standard hood emblem ( exact measurements: see picture )
    2) the material is a sort of thick glossy vinyl (?) really does not compare to let's say a normal decal or so.
    3) thickness > 1mm
    4) really nice golden metallic.....
    5) all the emblems have got on the back a thin green backing paper. I have tried to lift some of this backing paper......underneath there is some sort of glue residue.

Is there someone who recognizes these nice emblems ? Does someone knows for what type of Porsche they could have been suitable ? Any hints ?

    Bert

that decal looks like what was on the racing posches instead of the hood crest..
similar to the RS-lightweights.. But what do I know??

    Thanks !

I have done some searching at Pelican and some former posts on the Registry ; 'RS lightweight hood sticker ' +'emblem hood sticker '.....
Seems that there are quite some reproductions available which are obviously thin stickers or even water slide decals.

The one I have is probably 3 or 4 times thicker compared to normal vinyl stickers, another difference is that the one I have, uses thinner 'antlers ' and all the colours appear with much more richness.
Keeping the above in mind, it is certain that these emblems were produced, to serve as a real emblem and not like something which was applied for only 'temporary' use.

Anyway, the question still stands: Is this the real deal or not !?

    ....well, it's a real emblem!

I'm not qualified to comment either way but would be surprised if Porsche got the prancing horse so horribly wrong on these....

    .....but who knows?
