    The Monterey Week

I'll start this off with a preview.

"There are 163 Porsches offered for sale over a four-day period. In some cases, this abundance constitutes ten percent of their entire catalog. Mecum, for example is offering a staggering 63 Porsches out of their 600 cars for Monterey. Rick Cole lists five Porsches among his 43 offerings. That doesn’t even hint at private sales that may happen before and after Tuesday’s Concours on the Avenue in Carmel (incidentally honoring Porsche models through 1989) or Friday’s Werks Reunion." Road Scholars Magazine

We're going to have at least 5 people covering the various auctions. If you go here you'll see a partial listing of the cars going up for sale.

I might be nice if we could keep all the auction stuff in one thread this time but I doubt if that will happen.

Speaking of which, one of those Porsches is an early 1965 911 (chassis 300620) at Bonhams http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/22792/lot/94/.

Does anybody know what the red box is in its engine bay? I think the black letters read SYDMUR ...EBALL.

Aside from that strange box, the only nits I have to pick with this car is that it has yellow cad (or zinc) plating on some throttle linkage pieces that were probably silver when it was new and a few of the flexible fuel lines are incorrect but most are not.

At $300,000+ I don't want to find an aftermarket CDI unit. Just saying.

You do if you don't want to foul the plugs as you idle onto the green to have the car pored over with white gloves and cleaning products.

Reading the Road Scholars' article, it seems that they are relatively few swb 911/912 on the block out of the 163 available.

    Jim, amazing job, thank you!

I don't understand the estimate on the 2.8 RSR at Gooding, equal to the 2.7 RS
