    Oil sending unit wiring

Would some kind soul please describe how the wires go from the oil sending unit, down through the fender support tube and then to the front of the car to the dash. My project car had the wiring cut out when it arrived. Just how do the wires go from the bottom of the fender support tube and then through the body?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jerry

It comes out the j-tube and into the right side indicator loom. Obviously from there it travels with the indicator loom up the centre tunnel and into the back of the gauge.

    Hope that helps

Thanks, John for the fast answer. For my clarification, the wire goes kind of through the open air until it meets the indicator loom, which I guess is in the right rear light assembly?

One wire is grounded (using the same point as the rear indicator housing), two wires come off the sender. All go up the J-tube and exit inside the engine bay where they pick up the main harness on the right side that is also supplies the right indicator. It is a short open air run in the rear wheel arch and I don't think it is supported anywhere prior to entering the J-tube. I stand to be corrected, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's configured on my 69T.

In this picture you can see the 2 leads for the sender on the right. The right indicator wires are in the center. The ground wire is upper left, loop broke off connector on this one. Top center is where it connects to engine bay harness.

Thank you so much for the information and picture. The wireing diagram does not do the situation justice.

People need to be on the same page here . I think jerryg may be asking about a SWB and ESully has a harness from a LWB . Fishcop is describing SWB routing .

Good point! I have a 68 and a 69... sometimes stuff just 'blends' together
