Never one to leave well enough alone, I was playing with tuning my carbs last weekend. Checked the timing first, and something strange happened. Timing light was connected to fuse block as usual. Car running. Timing light blinking. Then the light stopped dead and would not start again. Fuse (in fuse block, not timing light) is fine. I assumed the timing light went bad. But then I tried it on my minivan and it works fine. Not on the Porsche. Tried different ground. Tried on wires to other cylinders. Nothing.

I know there is power through the fuse block, because the CDI is whirring and the fuel pump ticks. So I'm seriously confused, and, as should be obvious by now, not an electrical genius. The question is this -- is it possible that I'm getting power through the fuse block, but not the appropriate amount of power? Is there a way I can check that with a multimeter?

Thanks for your help.
