    Early Original Hockey Puck Question

Recently got this hockey puck along with some other parts. I have never seen this version before, there is no padding under the leather (it is flat) and the chrome ring does not have any tabs. Looks like the horn button was just glued in but does have a friction fit to it. Has anyone ever seen one of these?

Can someone recommend a type of glue for attaching this center disc to the base, I assume you want to use a non-permanent type in case you want to remove the disc at some point. Thanks for your help.

I've had many 65-68's, maybe 20 over the years, never seen that type on a 68 or earlier car. Best guess from previous discussions would be an early aftermarket or factory replacement part from late 60-80's

Oh, there is no doubt that this is an original factory part. My research tells me it is a one year only for '68, then the butterfly showed up. My guess is that this style made it easier to remove the disc for repair or replacement of the leather skin. Anyone have a suggestion on type of glue?

Always curious to learn, what leads you to to conclude that? Was it a late 68 transition type part? It's certainly a much rarer type, Moito's collection aside. As for glue, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the ease of replacement? Moito's collection have either all been cleaned well, or weren't glued. The only one of this type I've ever had was press fit, not glued. I'd use something pretty weak if you do choose glue, it shouldn't fall out, but maybe just enough to keep it from turning when pushed on. I'd dab a little of the generic spray adhesive I use for interior pieces/carpet if I were glueing it.

How does the chrome ring come apart to replace the leather?

Yes I am still learning also. Well you are right it was made to "press fit" as the ring was kinked in one spot which kept it loose fitting. I straightened it out now and it is fitting like it should with just friction fit, no glue. Your are right no sign of glue on Moito's collection. Thanks for your input!
