    FS: @Hollywood Wheels-2016 Amelia-Early 911's

Hollywood Wheels Auction at Amelia Island has a few early 911's. Unfortunately, this Auctioneer doesn't publish VINs and Engine numbers, sometimes not even auction estimates. Weird.

“This is no car for a novice,” warns a Porsche brochure when the new Porsche 911 advertisement was publicized in print. 1966 was the 1st year for a 911S in Europe and 1967 for the USA market. Porsche’s were notorious for high revs and oversteer and not for the inexperienced driver, yet the Porsche 911 was busy winning races all over Europe and here in the US. As the story goes, this car was an original Euro model that was found years ago in a warehouse in England. The previous owner was a race enthusiast who spent a lot of time and money converting these early 911s to 911 R specifications. The 911 R modifications’ include: plexiglass ¼ windows, R taillights, minor ¼ panel flares and 15×8 Fuchs windmill rims on the rear. This 911 is in surprisingly original condition with the exception of the necessary racing conversions. According to the Kardex, the car was and is an original Polo red car with black leather interior. This 911 also has the correct early green gauges, 911 “S” 7 grand tach, aftermarket sport steering, racing seat and roll bar. The engine has Weber carburetors, plexiglass velocity stacks, and red ”S” engine shroud. The front wheels have 15×6 in Fuchs alloys. This car has a menacing stance, runs strong and would be a lethal instrument at the next Porsche club racing event.

    1968 Porsche 2.0L 911 Coupe

    Auction Description:

    - Special ordered Pastel Blue with original Black leatherette interior
    - US Spec car
    - 2.0L with 5 speed manual transmission
    - 1 of 742 produced in 1968
    - Upgraded to Fuch alloys

This 1968 911 is a beautiful example of Porsche’s grand touring sports car. Now in its fourth year of production and racking up checkered wins on the race courses across the globe. For 1968, Porsche 911’s lineup remained pretty much unchanged. Although in the US, due to emissions compliance the 911S was substituted with the nearly as powerful 911L, a luxury replacement for the 911S. The engine displacement for 1968 also remained unchanged, still at 2.0 litres and 130 hp on the 911L (Luxury) US only models. This standard 911 Zuffenhausen screamer is presented in Pastel Blue, reminiscent of the famous “Gulf Blue” race livery colors that dominated the racing circuits across Europe for nearly a decade. It is showroom stock looking; the original chrome steel wheels and caps were replaced with a rare set of factory deep 15×6” Fuchs wheels. The body is straight and the paintwork has a good finish suitable for a daily driver or any local car show activities. The interior is factory stock black leatherette upholstery and has tinted windows. Some other accessories featured on this sporty 911 are, side marker lights and factory optional Hella 128 fog lights. The 2.0 litre horizontally opposed six motor starts and runs fine, this car has that great traditional “Flat six” Weber carbureted sound that is uniquely Porsche. This car is accompanied with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
