Dis-assembling front and rear hood latch peg, how to?

Got a call from my plater last week. Apparently the cup on the peg of both the front and rear lid latch is made out of pot metal. He wants me to dis-assemble the latch so the cup will not be eaten away in the stripping tank.

I toyed around with them today but can not get the pegs unscrewed. They are so tight that I fear I will bugger the slot in it. Am I overlooking something?

    TIA,

    JK

Ed is correct. Clamp the latch assembly in a vise, use a adjustable wrench and loosen the jam nut, then un thread the shaft all the way to remove the spring and aluminum cup. Yes, the cup will be dissolved in the plating process.

    Mark..

Thanks guys, total brain fart, thought the cup/jam nut was spot welded to the base. Some days your own behavior makes you wonder.
