what is this cannister under my 67S hood?

Been trying to sort out this new to me 67S.
what is going on here undr the bonnet?

and it didn't come with a 67 !

The charcoal filter was used in later cars to absorb fuel vapours from the fuel tank to reduce the scent of fuel (and possibly the accumulation of explosive vapours). The filter was purged when the engine ran by using pressurized air from behind the fan blowing into the filter and sucking the vapours into the low pressure area in the induction behind the air filter. Thus the fuel vapours were burned off. A pretty useful system even if not stock on your car.

I added one to my 67. My car has fuel injection and a fuel return line. Adding the filter helped reduce the fuel vapors.
