Hi,
can someone please tell me the exact size of the mounting screws for the headrest bracket on 1965 models? Also, is it a slotted or Phillips screw?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Regards.

I would go with largest sheet-metal screw that fits thru openings in chrome mounting bracket. The mounting tab located in the seat back behind the upholstery is very flimsy, thin metal. It may already have mounting holes. Have you checked? The last one I did was done with upholstery removed and no preexisting mounting holes so I got a good solid mounting. But "solid" is relative. These were not meant to be safety devices in the day. I run my early 911 with the driver side removed, stored in a box in the trunk.

i have a 1965 seat with provisions in place for the slip in headrests.
i just bought an old set of headrests but the metal tounges will not slip into the clips? It is like they are slightly too big?

hear is a picture of the seat and headrest.
The chrome bars just do not want to fit in the seat back mounts?

Seat back brackets may be US-made Colgan; also, the thumb screw has domestic threads.
Agree that Seat Back bracket does not appear to be original, or maybe from 356. Here's a photo of what I have for short wheelbase 911. The opening for the bar is 24 mm , While the chrome headrest bar itself is 20 mm

perhaps the seat is from 356.
how can i tell based on seat design?
also, would anybody know what the 356 headrest mounts look like?
If it is in fact a 356 seat, it would solve the mystery.
