If a 68 sports seat was fitted with headrests I assume it was with D style, is that correct?

D would be correct, if delivered with headrests.
P from mid 71.
Thanks Dirk
Secondary question now would the D style for 68 have the black plate with the crinkle finish like the side recliners as per the pic?

Hi Clyde.
Not sure of the exact answer to that question yet but crinkle black recliners didn’t exist in 68 did they? Chrome on my 68 seats.
My 68 interior is red and non sports seats but it’s all original including the headrests. I can get a look at them later if nobody has answered by then.

Mike

Thanks Mike but your seats may not be relevant as the black paint/crinkle was on all sports seats to my knowledge even back in 68
Be good to know what you have anyway though
Cheers

I have 3 chrome sport seat recliners... pretty sure none of which came from Porsche that way.
Very blingy.
The chrome ones might be for a Volvo
This might be an aside, but the late Barry Williams owned a 68S that had a passenger seat with a roll type headrest fitted (no drivers side headrest). Not talking about his white car, this is a Polo red 68S sunroof, and it was on the cover of European Car along with the tan 67S of Craig Stevenson.
So, I think it's "possible" that an early 68 could have come with the roll type, but I think common thought is that they would generally be the "stab-in" type of headrest.
The crinkle finish on the recliners was first used on sport seats starting in 1967. I've never seen a headrest from a 68 without the black crinkle finish on the bottom.

Barry was a good egg.
Still own NOS 68 sport seat I bought from him.
