    Oil Gauge -- Sticking?

I have a 2.4S 72 Targa, with a recently re-sealed and rebuilt engine. It was running perfectly for several hundred miles, with all gauges functioning properly. For the first time -- the dash oil pressure guage has started reading (at startup) about 80 before warm-up and only varies SLIGHTLY with rev changes. Then, when fully warm, the guage goes down to about 65 and again, shows no changes when revved up or down -- even when idling at full-stop. I just checked the oil level, and for the first time the stick is showing 1/2-1 quart OVER filled.

    No other unusual indicators.

What is the likely problem? Can over-fill be the source of the problem?

    Thanks all.

More than likely just the pressure sender failing, a new sender should solve the problem.

Thanks much Ed. Wayne Desbrow here (Pittsburgh).

In the meantime ...Am I doing any harm with what seems to be an over filled oil supply?

    Hope you are well.

No, the worst that would happen is it might puke some into the aircleaner thru the vent hose, but that little bit shouldn't do much unless you were running hot laps at a track.
