    Nice buy Mike.

I’m thinking that is a post 73 badge so making it a very early short hood orange bar badge. I’d be interested if you agree Mike?

I think that the general consensus is that the smooth backed badges were on the earlier cars. I have several very original later cars up through 1974 and all of them have a dimpled back badge but I'd also be interested in Mike's opinion.

I was thinking the same as John early orange bar badges '65-'71 smooth back and '72 - '74 pebbled backs.

John's resource is ok, but when you look at the horse, there is a marked difference between the '65-'71 version and the '72-'74 version... I have seen some badges with the early horse with some dimpling (not too pronounced) on the rear... so I do not think it is as clear cut as John's site suggests... maybe I am wrong, but I am sure that there were several iterations along the way rather than two standard reference points...
And the badge at the start of this thread appears to have the later horse...

Actually it was one of my sources not John's. I see what you are saying about the horse the body to the top leg is a stub and not a point.

Sorry to mis-cite... I looked at the link!

    No offence intended, Mike.

And yes, the point seems to be a feature of the earlier badges...
