I'm confused, says its one of the earliest models 300 series but a production of Dec 65 would make it more of a 303xxx car

If we are talking about 911s with “Holy grail” potential, this very special 1965 Porsche 911 is among the candidates. This 911 has one of the hugely desirable vin numbers from the 300 series, indicating that it is among the earliest 911’s ever produced by Porsche KG in Zuffenhausen (now Porsche AG). The car was documented by the Porsche Classic in Zuffenhausen in 1999 on vin number and the production date of December 8, 1965. Since then, the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity has been added to the repetoire of this vehicle, with information that the first owner was Porsche KG them selves. The car was, by Porsche KG Zuffenhausen, sold to a Porsche dealer in California, where it lived a safe life until 1999.
In 1999, the car competes with Madison Maersk and later transfers to Sally Maersk to finally arrive in Copenhagen in May 1999. After this, the car was placed in a garage for a few years until in March 2001 it was first registered in Denmark. walk. From there, it originally drove around the streets and alleys of Copenhagen for the next several years - and right up to the day when a Porsche expert accidentally discovers that it is an original 300 series - and thus a car from the first production series of 911 ever. The then owner decides to do something good for his "daily driver" and a thorough renovation work begins in 2015. The car is separated for each screw and subsequently built by an established Porsche conservator according to original regulations. The pictures below of the car probably tell the story better.
Not only is this 911 among the first produced, there is a very unique and special detail in the rear engine compartment. Here is a Weber carburetor instead of the normal Solex 40PI carburetor that was commonly found in these cars from this vintage. This is because, in 1963, Ferdinand Piëch asked Italian carburetor Weber to produce a carburetor that he could use as a basis for a racing version capable of receiving larger venturi.
The first application for this exact Weber design was found in the 6-cylinder Porsche 901/20 racing engines. In total, approximately 100 units of Porsche's 904 Carrera GTS racing cars were equipped with this 1964-1966 engine and carburetor setup. During the production of the general 911s in Zuffenhausen, this particular car was lifted off the assembly line and fitted with the same Weber carburetor, as a Porsche KG prototype. From February 1966, Porsche officially went from Solex to Weber. based on the great success of this particular car - and this setup with a Weber 40IDA3C carburetor (Triple Choke) remained in use until 1972, when it was replaced with an EFI system.
The same type of Weber carburetors found in this 911 were also used on other legendary cars of the time such as Ferraris BB models, Lamborghini Miura, Renault Alpine A310 and of course the above mentioned Porsche 904 Carrera GTS - depending on setup and configuration.

That vin plaque should be by the smugglers box? Seems like an odd restoration. When did Porsche move the plaque to the latch panel?

No, I think that is the first I have with the VIN tag on the slam panel. 303299 is the last I have by the smugglers box. I need more data to narrow it further.

There actually was quite some gold zinc mixed in with the silver on #303366 but the latches for sure were not gold. Many many details wrong on this car
