    VIN = 9113601226
    Eng# = 6631190
    Trans# = ?
    Prod# = ?

'. . . Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 ‘1226’ was delivered to an Italian official Porsche dealer in May 1973, then registered ‘TS 163919’ on 18 June in the name of its first owner, Trieste resident Massimo Corbella. According to the accompanying Porsche Heritage Certificate, the car was built to the following specification:

    Touring package (M472)
Blutorange (‘Tangerine’ ref 2323) with black seats
Recaro sport seats left and right (409)
    Limited-slip differential (224)
Referring to the records held by the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI), the next owner was Fiorenzo Boldrin of Padua, who registered it locally ‘PD 417281’ on 22 July 1975. Speaking to the current owner, Boldrin remembers the car with fondness as it was used for family trips to the Dolomites.

Third owner Renzo Santello bought the car in October 1976, registering it ‘VE 358016’ in his home city of Venice on 2 February 1977. Santello kept the car for three years, selling it to another Padua resident, Luisa Fiorita, in whose care it bore the mark ‘PD 572090’. From Fiorita, the car’s fourth owner, ACI records show that this RS was purchased by pioneer classic car collector and racer Piero Brigato of Vicenza. At that time the car shared ownership with, among others, a Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione, a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and an Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. In 1982 it was sold to Varese and registered ‘VA 756046’. In 1992 it moved to Milan and was acquired by Giancarlo Galtrucco, a known gentleman driver and collector, who used it for outings with the Italian Porsche club.

Our Milanese client purchased the car in June 2014 from Galtrucco, retaining its Varese number plate. He is the last of an unbroken chain of Northern Italian enthusiasts who have owned ‘1226’

Kidson quotes 6.2 seconds to 60mph but the RS Touring was timed when brand new by a respected magazine established since the 1890s known to take much trouble to get accurate roadtest figures using rigorous repeatable road test protocols . That first 500 series RHD was timed at 5.5s to 60mph with M472 conversion lwith fuel, two testers, timing equipment and so forth.

By comparison the then fastest road car they'd ever tested to that point using the magazines comparable test protocols was only 0.1 second faster from standstill to the same benchmark 60mph benchmark at 5.4 seconds. That car was the Ferrari 365 GTB / 4 Daytona V12 which at time was only roughly £1000 more expensive than the cheapest new RS ( M471 Sport conversion ) plus a new 911T combined!

0-60 figure not the most useful figure imo but it is commonly quoted and happens to be the one used in the current for sale listing .

Rather unusual for a dealer to understate something that has evidence of being better than their claim. Maybe just the sellers research is confused; a similar road test of RHD model year 72 S got 0-60 mph as 6.2 using comparable testing methods.

Even Porsche's famously conservative performance benchmark claims as printed in the original RS brochure that came with my RS say it is nearly half a second brisker than Kidson. Brochure states 5.8 seconds to (the usually slower) 100km/h metric rougly equvakent benchmark.

Maybe this new standalone thread can be linked to the "Carrera RS for Sale" sticky ...unless I misunderstand the purpose of having stickies it is a Carrera RS for sale so seems to fit that thread ?

I've griped about this almost from the get-go --- from one of my 1st posts . . .

So? --- I'll start a thread about ONE car . . . always including the VIN, maybe referencing some previous appearances . . . if I can dig 'em out. Then the next time the car shows-up, I can just add to thread. Frankly, seeing the procession of appearances + sales + re-appearances of some cars points up something not only about flavor of the cars themselves but the changing tastes of their owners . . .

    Sticky-schmicky --- gimme a good/solid thread I can sink my teeth into

In any event, I'm sure Mr Dill 'll be along, here, shortly

I get what you are saying, but searching one of the sticky threads isn't hard at all. Open the thread, then find the "Search Thread" button in the thread toolbar. That search brings up all 'posts' in the thread with that VIN (or whatever else you are searching for).
