From age 12 to about 18 I had Dutch neighbors with a son about 2 years older then me.
I learned to swear in Dutch right away... and got addicted to Dutch salted licorice..
….. I wish I learned more...![]()

Thank you for posting. I've been to Sicily quite a few times and have visited Cefalu, the birthplace of my Nonno <GF> . I regret never having Ciccio make a pair of shoes for me.

Excellent! Hard to believe somebody would put a “thumbs down “ on the video
Think Lauda might be wearing a pair of boots by Ciccio who’d become official supplier to the scuderia about then (the photo sitting on pit wall beside Hunt) in this thread
https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...light=Westover
As much as any Hollywood movie this photo kind of encapsulates the very different approach to life and racing of the two drivers, with Lauda wearing a stylish nicely polished leather pair whereas Hunt has crudely hacked out big chunks of his blue nomex Westovers (almost denim blue hue like his oft seen frayed jeans trademark scruffy mufti ).
Hunt only “lost” the toes of his boots to better fit in the racing tub; not his actual toe like Quick Vic did as a consequence of a DIY accident (not a motorsport accident as some suppose) so Ciccio made Elford a pair of bespoke boots for him to accommodate his situation ahead of his targa win I believe.
Understand your regret at never having bought a pair. There is an allure to pukka “old racing tat”
Steve
