Thread: Recaro sports seats

    Recaro sports seats

Which are the more desirable sports seats, the SWB or LWB?

Reason for the query is I have a pair of each, and probably need to sell one set to have the other restored.

Whilst my '69 "S" isnt spot on original, having bigger engine, flared rear arches, different colour, I am thinking of restoring the LWB seats with headrests

    ---What's your opinion?

    And value of either set.

And where in UK to get them restored, (i have spoken with Southbound, local specialist trimmers local to me, and they're fully booked until next February.)

    Many thanks

    Ian

In the past I believe SWB seats were more valuable with restored sets (w/ bases fetching up to 12K USD) but lately they don't seem to be moving at the same rate or same price.

I will say that the SWB seat you posted has what looks like a nice perforated original bolster (guessing it was in the passenger position based on the difference in bolster wear). Would be interesting to see both seats for each set. I think there are folks out there who could use a repair panel from an original seat that is otherwise in usable condition.

    Nice garage...

Since the OP is in the UK, that may well have been the driver's side, if it was RHD.

SWB looks like a '67. Certainly more valuable than any other sport seat.

I would think there is a huge price difference if the original vinyl can be saved and isn't ripped, and a seat where everything will need to be replaced besides the frame.
