VDO Kienzle clock, electromagnet winder issue.

I have a problem with the VDO mechanical clock in my early 73 car. The clock runs but the winding mechanism only moves about 50% of its travel. I can move the winding paw manually through its full travel but the electromagnetic only moves it 50%. I have cleaned and lubed all including burnishing of the points. Several different power sources had no effect on the problem.

    All suggestions appreciated. Rob

How long between winding triggers? 90 seconds? I ask because I don't think mine goes all the way either, but the wind is enough to last probably 3 minutes or so between triggers. I'm not sure if the magnet was ever strong enough to go all the way.

The reason I thought this was a problem was the clock on my other car winds 100%. I will check the time interval on the suspect clock and post.

The important question is whether or not it keeps reasonably accurate time regardless of the length of the winding stroke. For S & G, I measured my rewind time to be approximately every 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
