    Help with 67 Targa

    I am looking to purchase a 1967 Targa . The emblems on the car show it is a 911L.
    The kardex just show 911
    The car is registered as a 67 but the door plate says 68
    anyone have an idea what it is .

    The VIN indicates a late production 1967 911 targa. The 911L was a 1968 model that had the cosmetic features of the S with the normal 911 engine due to the S not meeting US emissions regulation for 1968. Being that it's a late year production car it may have had some 1968 parts? or someone "upgraded" it sometime during its life. My 911 converted '67 912 targa was badged as a 911s when I purchased it.

    On the "68" if that is on the paint badge on the door it has nothing at all to do with the year the car was made

    I presume it says "68 6604 G" (hellelfenbein or light ivory) ??

    If so the 68 refers to the paint type - i think in this case "Resin Medium Solid Basecoat (KH-MS Basecoat)"
    there are many other codes used to distinguish the paint type (as opposed to the manufacturer which for G would be Glasurit). On t=of the better known ones is 97 for high temperature paint - specifically "140 degree C / 284 degree F 'baking paint"

    i agree that it is a very late 1967 Model Year 911 targa
