Hello,
Anyone here familiar with Cryo-Detailing? Thoughts? Good for an older car or not good? (1972 911T Targa)
Thanks in advance...SLK516

Absolutely for mechanical bits and undercarriages. Not cheap but really the only method to remove grime without touching the original finishes.
Getting an old VW engine done soon, will post before & after photos.

I am guessing you are talking of dry-ice blasting? It seems to work wonders based on youtube videos
if the operater has a feel for the machine and old cars , it`s really a great thing.
but if mr.blaster is a brute... damage is imminent.
cable sleeves brake, stickers fly off, nice original overspray gets removed, loose paint on engine tin etc gets blown off, insulation material torn to tatters...i even have seen leatherette damage.

Good UTube video that was in a post over at the Bird. Shows a 912 being cryoblasted underneath. Mad me interested for our pretty original 356. Does seem hard to find a place that would do it outside of Florida/CA. Did a little search and saw little in the Northeast besides commercial guys.

They did my 911 about 5 years ago
Took off all the oil, crude, etc off the undercarriage. No damage.

I had the underbody of my car done. There was a layer of wax undercoating that was completely removed. With really Greasy stuff was not that good - grime came off better.
Would do it again anytime. But you have to be aware of the limitations.
Very important to find someone that is very experienced in doing this. If it is cryo BLASTER, then beware....they will strip off everything.
You need to find the very few that do the cryo DETAILING. They are infinitely more gentle on the car and will do a great job.
Your research on the company doing this is everything.
