Anyone know where this wire goes?

I acquired this car a few months ago (a ‘68). When I was recently inspecting the engine bay, I noticed a stray wire hanging behind the engine. I looked over the area but cannot seem
To figure out where it is supposed to go. Anyone have any thoughts?

About the only electrical application in reach of that wire is the oil pressure sending unit, and that wire end is a domestic type wire end and appears to be well smashed from over tightening.

I believe that the oil temp sender:

Normally, I believe it's at the rear of engine, though you are showing the front.

I’m a bit confused. I agree that it’s in the right location for the oil pressure sender. The wire agrees with the wiring diagram but it’s going a strange route and it appears that another wire is attached to the pressure sending unit (if I’m looking at the correct item).

I broke out the inspection camera. The first pic is where the disconnected wire runs. It’s the bottom of the engine bay insulation that lines the rear seats.
The second pic is what appears to be the pressure sending unit with a different wire attached.

is the wire green with red, or green with brown or black?

It appears to be green with red, which would correspond to the oil pressure unit in the wiring diagram.
Does the wire run under the insulation in other peoples cars? Just seems odd that it would run alone. Also doesn’t explain the other wire attached to the unit or the fact that the gauge works

Do you have oil temperature and oil pressure gauges? Do they work? Is the loose wire "live" when the ignition is on?
