Since I re-acquired my car I have decided my (very) old timing light needs to be updated. Any recommendations on a good light that is reasonably priced.

No complaints with this one I got for around $100.

I'll agree with Dave here. After my Snap-On light (that is older than I am) kind of gave up the ghost, I bought an Innova and it made everything so much easier with the inductive clamp on the spark plug wire, a tachometer and dwell meter all in one, it makes like super easy. Another odd (?) benefit is that it's fairly light weight (my old Snap-On felt like cast iron) so it's easier to hold for an extended period.

The Innova has a good following on Amazon and various positive reviews so I will get one of those. Thanks for the input you guys!

Woah! The snap-ons wear out?? Say it ain’t so. Mine is 80s vintage and still going strong!
Better keep my eye out for a used one if that is the case!
Hi Paul,
+1 for Innova 5568 (works great!)
Good news (re-aquiring your car ;-)
Is there a way to check a timing light?
I've got a really old Sears Craftsman Chrome body from ...... 1980's ??????? and makes me wonder if it is still working correctly? It does function as expected.

Hook it up to a power source and the #! Cylinder. With engine running, pull trigger, if it blinks, it works.
I have the same early Craftsman type. The induction clamp for the #1 wire can be fiddly. Make sure it is snugly nestled and clamped in. Otherwise no signal or intermittent signal.

Got mine a few days after Dave A's review. It replaces my shiny Craftsman and a Heathkit dwell tachometer and a Heathkit VOM. It is brighter than the Craftsman and lighter. Very happy but where should the green lead go on my CDI 911T?
