AC SHOP Large Consignment Sale #1

Two sets of original (not reproduction) SEV Marchal Fantastic rally lights: 660/770's and 662/772's.

Produced from 1961 to 1969 Marchal 660/760 and 662/762 rally lights were used on many. many rally cars from the late 1950’s to the early 1970’s. They were a favorite of Porsche, Alfa Giulietta, Lancia, Ferrari and many Mille Miglia and Tour-de–France contestants.

As I have researched these it appears that originals are most likely not rare but they do appear to be scarce.

Both I think. The predecessor to the 660/770, called the 660, was produced n the 50's and was very popular for use on 356's.

The 662's use a regular H1 bulb. Th3 660's use these bulb, I'm not sure what it is:

There are two extra original of these with the 660's. These lights are so cool to me. They tempt me to want to start a museum of vintage Porsche lighting. I could put it in the cleverly concealed penthouse at Audette Collection international headquarters. j

    Cheers,
    John

In 1965 Marchal offered the 'new' H1 bulb in their 'old' Fantastic 660/760 (fog) & 662/762 (long distance) models.
So the 660's are from before 1965 with the old style bulbs, the 662's from after 1965 with the H1 bulbs.

I have lights similar to the 662 on my '60 Roadster and I love them. I think they look great on that period 911 photo as well. Something very cool seeing such unique lights up front compared to what we usually see.

I agree. These are fascinating lights. They're a bold step away from the seemingly standard 118's. I had some kind of over size driving lights on my rally build but I don't recall what they were. Anyone know?
