Who makes the skid plates for the 85L plastic gas tanks? Is there a Porsche part number? I can't seem to find it. Thanks, -Scott

I believe there is someone else here doing them now.
I used to make exact replicates years ago copied from originals, both versions in steel and aluminum.
For the 85L the original aluminum plate works best as it sat about 3/8” lower than the earlier steel plate but I would still add an additional 1/2” spacer block under rear brackets to help clearance the additional depth of the plastic tank.
A regular factory steel plate will otherwise not fit.

I think you need to make them again! I'd do aluminum as the steel ones are very heavy.

Scott...I've got this sitting in my garage collecting dust that I don't believe I'll have a project for.
It's yours if you want it??
Knowing you, you'll have to polish it or re-finish it in some way. Haha
Never been used or mounted as far as I know...it's in great condition, not bent or mangled or scraped up.
Aluminum baby....

Steel. A couple inches to the passenger side the fuel pump would be toast. A couple inches to the drivers side the master cylinder would be toast. I’m going to have a plate that goes from the front to the bolts to the rear of the master cylinder and fuel pump. A dump truck dropped a chunk of concrete in front of the car and I had cars all around me and nowhere to go.

Zuffenhaus Products made the best plastic tank front skid plate. No spacers needed as it was made for plastic tank. They don’t advertise in the ESSES any more so I don’t know if they are still around. Here is one on my car.
Very nice. I want one that goes all the way to the front one piece.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
Thanks Joe, it is now raining here pretty good to wash all the winter salt off the road. Then I can take it out for a ride.
