Trying to find a few answers

I have searched but so far haven't found answers to four questions about my 1965 SWB 911. People on this forum know EVERYTHING about these cars so I am hoping someone can help me out.

    1) The stamped rectangular depressions along the top of the outer rocker panels were filled with filler. Was this done by the factory perhaps to prevent dips in the rubber threshold strip, or was this a later modification? I have replaced the rockers with the early style indented rockers. What are folks doing with these? It seems like a shame to cover up that characteristic feature with filler.

    2) Some cars have three dash switches above the radio, apparently for fog lights, hazard flasher, and gas heater control. I do not have a hole for the center (hazard) switch. Was that optional in 1965 or perhaps just on US cars ? (mine was European, specifically Italian)

    3) As an Italian car, I have the original clear and amber front marker lights. My tail lights were changed out at some point. Did the Italian cars have anything special for the rear lenses, or were they the same as the other European 911's of the era?

    3) Attached to the longitudinal just about straight above the axle is a small bracket. They are present on both sides of the car. Can anyone tell me what that is for?

Thanks for any and all input.

    1. done by the factory (very early cars had them filled with lead...i do not know up to which VIN)
    2. hazzard switch was not mandatory in 65 hence no hole for euro cars....don`t know for US cars
    3. same tail lights as for german cars...as far as i know parts catalog does not mention italian market tail lights
4.discussed in other threads but we are not certain ....they come in handy when servicing the brakes to hang the calipers...

Great! Thanks for the info. I'm sure other questions will arise as the restoration of this car continues and I appreciate having a resource like this forum to refer to.

Part of the specifaction for Italian cars was no hazzard switch.

Also there was some discussion about the different housings and lenses for Italian signal lights.

Yes, judging from the Kardex, the only factory option on my car was a Webasto heater. Interesting discussion about the impact of the VAT on adding options. I wonder if that was also the case in 1965.

    My car is fitted with:
    White/amber front signal markers
    No hazard switch
    No headrests
    No seatbelts
    Metric gauges
    Fiamm horn
Drivers side mirror appears to have been added
I don't know if the car originally had a radio. It doesn't appear as an option on the Kardex. Were radios standard equipment? I haven't ever seen a photo of a SWB car that didn't have one.
