A pair of Recaro S Sportseats, restored, plug and play

    Hi All,

I have a nice pair of the 1968 model S sportseats. This set was restored many years ago (approx 10-15 years) The set is complete (which you don’t see very often) the tilting bases and recaro sliders and D shaped headrests are there. All original recaro knobs are also included. This model seats were standard in most 911S cars from late 1968 until 1971. It was a very expensive upgrade for T and E cars but worth it because of a much better fit compared to the basic recaro ‘wobbly’ seats. After 1970-1971 the seats with the heavier tilting frames were introduced. Many people preferred the 68 model because of this.

The seats are restored with the very nice black perforated leatherette. The base and backrest with basketweave material. No tears or other damage on the fabric except some dust.

The lever mechanisms and tilting frames work well. The seats are straight. The tilting frames have new rubber cushions and the seat hinges were mounted with new screws very much like the old original ones.

    There are some flaws however:
1: the recaro rails are original and painted silver. I don’t like that I prefer galvanised silver as original but it’s not.
2: one recaro slider has a broken tooth (see pictures)
3: the tilting frames are either new (10-15 years old) or the were newly painted I am not sure.
4: the seat hinges have some peeled off paint. On the rear side you will not see this when the seats are in the car.

When your car has a basketweave dash and doorcards these seats will look awesome.

    Price: 7000$
shipment to the US of A is 500$
I also sell the seats without the tiltingframes and sliders if preferred.F98564D0-55EB-42B0-B947-8EC2FE33BB6B.jpgA0442A2F-A50E-4B75-839B-0F16D3C7A182.jpgA35D3603-2C13-406B-9F9B-C597C0AF08E2.jpgD5459410-93DD-4107-B991-967CED6E021D.jpg958C5911-7049-4A43-8595-BE7DE9F70608.jpg7165DFC9-847C-4DD6-BF70-94A1198F58F9.jpgB4B12E03-CB36-43B2-AD50-8B696C485063.jpg5AD85226-EA92-47B5-9EA1-1B80E706550B.jpgDB6E0A0C-6F71-465F-9EC0-B7C5FD07DE14.jpgEDE17A2B-2B67-4309-8163-5E772E0C0C31.jpg

very nice seats at an interesting price. Nevertheless, a few corrections to your explanations - perhaps interesting for potential buyers: such recaros with rails and headrests were only available from the factory in the swb year of construction 1968. i.e. from the beginning of 1968 to july 1968. with the model year 1969 (from august 1968) porsche installed the large one bracket with rails at the bottom of the vehicle floor. as is well known, however, recaro continued to produce the rail model presented here. here this model is called "aftermarket". due to the large number of such "rail seats" it is hard to believe that they are all just "1968 porsche" seats. due to the restoration, this will no longer be verifiable. A few years ago I spoke to a Porsche worker from back then who said that what was to come was installed back then - so he wasn't quite sure whether there weren't some LWB 911s with such seats. if anyone has any proof it would be very interesting. I would also like to mention that there are 2 driver's seats here (which could probably be correct for swb) and the perforation is unfortunately wrong. square instead of diamond shape. despite everything, 2 nice seats and certainly worth the asking price. good luck with the sale!

    regards uwe

It‘s an apple problem. You need to rotate the picture 90*. Then hit save. Then rotate them another 270*. Then reupload.
Great pricing on these! Uwe as well informed as usual

    Uwe,

Thank you for your response. Greatly appreciated. So if I understand correctly the 1969 and 1970 S model 911s did not have sportseats? That’s new for me.
And yes totally agree about the aftermarket part. Most of them had the recaro sign and the original porsche seat had no recaro sign.

I have seen many 68 model seats by now and I never saw a passenger model. Those were only made in the later model version. Is this correct? If someone has a 1968 passenger model seat I would love to see some pictures.

Thanks again Uwe for your comments
