Hooks/Loops in the Trunks of the Early 911s

From what I have read, only the early 1965 911s had luggage hooks/loops in the trunk, and that they were phased out entirely at some point during 1965. Several people have reported that there were a total of six hooks. My May 65 has only four; it doesn’t have the two hooks beneath the trunk latch, which some people said that they have in their cars. Added to the mystery is what purpose was served by the hooks? Were they luggage hooks? Were they to designed hold down the carpet? There has been much speculation on the subject. Since Porsche eliminated all of the trunk hooks at some point during 1965, it’s possible that they went from six to four and then to none. What is the latest thinking on the subject?
